Packaging –

So this product came in a box with 10 sachets of 25 ml each, along with a packet of gloves to use during the application of this shampoo.

I really liked the packaging of this product because each sachet is for a one-time use and since this product is not a daily use shampoo, these sachets suited me fine. I could also carry a couple of sachets to use on my travels, instead of a whole bottle.

Also, it came with gloves which were convenient to use during application to avoid staining the skin.

Effectiveness on the hair –

I would definitely say it worked effectively on my hair and within just 5 minutes my grays could get covered up (just as the product stated), so it was a win for me!

Cleansing ability –

Since this product is a hair dyeing shampoo, I can definitely say it did a pretty decent job at cleansing my hair, but in terms of conditioning, well, not so much because it’s just a shampoo and so it did make my hair feel a little dry after I used it. I had to use a hair conditioning serum to help smoothen out my frizz, the following day.

Scalp and hair gentleness –

This product does contain both the types of sulfates –sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate, which are considered harmful for the hair. So that wasn’t something I liked about this product.

But since it wasn’t a daily-use shampoo, I felt it was all right to use it and it didn’t do excessive damage to my hair thankfully, but did dry it out a little.

Lasting effects –

In terms of its effects, I’d say the product kept my greys concealed for around two weeks (while the product promised four weeks). So this was a little disappointing, but since it was a cheaper, effective and hair-friendly alternative to hair dye, I considered the lasting effects negligible.

Lastly, the pricing – totally worth it! I paid $15.00 for the box of 10 sachets of 25 ml each. I have medium length hair and therefore I had to use two sachets for each hair shampoo dyeing session.

So, therefore, one box lasted me for five uses, which means I used the box for around two and a half months.

Overall Review: Dexe Black Hair Shampoo

Over the last four months of using this product, I can definitely say my experience has been good! Before I started using this product, I had been dyeing my hair with hair dye for two years and the ammonia had damaged my hair terribly. So, I am extremely glad I found this product!

First of all, I really like that this dye comes in the form of a shampoo, which has its color and developer pre-mixed as well, so it saves me the hassle of all the mixing. It also comes in a sachet, so it is super travel-friendly as well.

It did a great job at covering my greys and the effects lasted around two weeks (which sadly disappointed me, as the product stated four weeks).

As a shampoo, this product contains sulfates and did dry my hair a little, but since it isn’t a daily-use shampoo, I didn’t mind because it was a great ammonia-free alternative to hair dye.

In terms of the pricing, I paid $15 for the box, wherein I got 10 sachets of 25 ml each, but I had to use two sachets per session (every two weeks, for me), which I still felt was pretty worth it and way cheaper than a visit to the parlor to dye my hair.

Well, even though this product is a shampoo, it cannot be used in the regular way because this is a hair dyeing shampoo and has to be applied on hair that is dry. But, the process is simple, so check out how to use this shampoo below.

Firstly, make sure that your hair is completely dry (not even damp) before using this product. Also, make sure to put on the gloves provided in order to avoid staining the skin. You can also apply some Vaseline or any other petroleum jelly on your hairline to avoid staining the forehead skin.

For those who wish to cover up grays only at the roots, you can just apply this shampoo evenly all over the gray roots by partitioning your hair and applying the product in sections for better and more even results.

For those who are going use this shampoo to color all their hair black (or to cover long grays), you will have to take a sufficient amount (for longer hair, you may require two to three sachets) of this shampoo on your palms and start spreading it until all your hair has been covered with it evenly, while gently massaging it in.
