Water/Aqua/H20

Water in most hair care products (and other cosmetics) is the chief component of the formula as it’s the solvent which dissolves all the other ingredients.

The water used in hair care products is sterile and deionized. This means there are no minerals in this water as they can interfere with the other ingredients.

Water-based hair products, especially conditioners are lighter, spread easily and help hydrate your hair if there are humectants (like glycerin, etc.) present in the formula.

Glycerin

Glycerin is used in shampoos to act as a humectant. These attract moisture to your strands, hydrating them and then preventing the moisture from escaping.

This makes glycerin an excellent ingredient to use on low porosity hair, dehydrated hair, damaged hair, etc.

Hydrated hair is generally more elastic and less prone to breakage, hence glycerin helps reduce hair fall this way.

Cocamidopropyl Betaine

Cocamidopropyl Betaine or CAPB is a type of cleanser that is derived from coconut oil.

It’s often used in shampoos in place of harsh surfactants like Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. Both of which can strip hair dye, remove moisture and irritate scalp skin.

CAPB however is milder and gentler and even has moisturizing properties.

Most sulfate-free shampoos do not lather well or clean hair very thoroughly but as the Videri shampoo contains this natural cleanser, it’s very good for removing grease and dirt from deep within your scalp without stripping it of moisture.

Panthenol

Panthenol is a fantastic anti-inflammatory and soothing agent.

According to a study, panthenol is also supposed to prevent transepidermal water loss. So in layman’s terms it reduces moisture loss from hair and skin cells.

Another study by the National Center for Biotechnology Information confirms that panthenol is also an anti-inflammatory agent that reduces redness and irritation on the scalp.

There is also research that suggests that panthenol can help reduce thinning of hair.

Avocado Fruit Extract

Avocado is rich in proteins and nutrients like biotin, vitamin B5, vitamin E and several omega fatty acids that help replenish hair’s lost protein, repairing damage and leaving it smooth and strong.

These nutrients are essential for the development of keratin in hair cells and also the production of collagen that gives hair strand its elasticity.

Argan Oil

Argan oil is extracted from the kernels of the argan fruit and is one of the most expensive oils in the world. It is rich in several vitamins including E, B5 and A and also contains omega-3 fatty acids that are a powerful group of antioxidants.

It is also lightweight and gets absorbed by the hair cuticle very easily, making it excellent for all hair types and for low porosity hair.

These ingredients can help nourish hair, reduce frizz and control breakage by smoothing out hair cuticles. It also helps in the development of hair collagen and keratin protein.

As it contains antioxidants it also makes a fantastic anti-inflammatory agent.

My Review Of The Hair Food Avocado And Argan Oil Shampoo

I was using the OGX Argan Oil Shampoo for three months and wanted to switch to something more nourishing but argan oil based since I'm obsessed. I gave it a try and I must say it works really well.

Thus lightweight shampoo gently nourishes and cleanses your hair thoroughly. Here is what I found-

Formula:

Avocados are tasty nutrients so if you can feed your body, then why not your hair too? Hair Food products with oils like avocado and argan  oil help restore your hair with moisture, healthy fats and make it more resilient to damage.

These key ingredients are responsible in making hair softer, shiner and boosts scalp movement. The shampoo is sulfate free so it will leave your scalp feeling refreshed and replenished. I can vouch for this because, I too felt it after hair wash.

Consistency:

Well! The texture may give you an impression of  using an oily shampoo which is light, transparent  and a bit oily. The shampoo lathers well and  feels soothing on the scalp.

Packaging:

The shampoo comes in a plastic bottle of 300ml and looks stunning which has a pump to easily squeeze the right amount of product to use. The shampoo is  ideal for traveling.

Fragrance:

The scent is very fresh and clean and not so overpowering. It is quite pleasant.

Cleansing Ability:

It definitely makes my hair feel clean and so soft to touch. Since the formula is SLS free, it does not form a foaming effect or heavy lather. But, the amount is enough to clean my scalp.

I ordered mine from amazon for 8 dollars which i think is reasonably priced.

Should I Use the Hair Food Avocado And Argan Oil Conditioner Along with this Shampoo?

I am someone who loves to shampoo twice on my hair to make sure I get rid of all the extra oils, dirt and impurities.

Take a coin size amount of the shampoo (depending on hair length and thickness), next dilute it with a little warm water and spread it all over your scalp and hair and massage it for two minutes.

Do not worry because the shampoo comes off quite easily without leaving any residue and is safe for coloured hair too. I had recently colored my hair when I used the shampoo and found it quite effective as the color did not run.

Overall, the conditioner actually helped me in making my hair smooth and soft to touch after shampooing.

I personally do not use a conditioner but this one performs well and is worth the investment.

I also loved how the fragrance was very light and did last long throughout the day which was amazing.

Price 3.9/5

Summary

A small amount of product goes a long way, meaning the shampoo bottle does last longer. Although my hair felt a little dry after using it, it  was my own fault for shampooing twice.

It did leave it overall feeling soft and did not strip away my hair of the nutrients.

I really loved this shampoo and the best thing I found is that it is sulfate, cruelty free and  paraben free.

Also,  an extra bonus was that you don’t really  need to get a separate conditioner along with this as your hair will be soft just like applying conditioner.

If you are someone who loves experimenting then you should definitely try this shampoo out.
