I’d been told that argan oil could work wonders for my hair and it did, as I had used argan oil on my curly locs before and it made my hair feel super soft and smooth.

This time, I was planning to change my shampoo and came across the Hask Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner, which seemed to have a really good rating on social media and of course, it did entice me a little and I decided to try it out and see whether an argan oil infused shampoo and conditioner would have similar effects on my hair as the argan oil did. My hair is relatively oily and therefore I always look out for shampoos that have a good cleansing power that can get rid of the grease easily and effectively, making my hair feel fresh.

Gentleness on the scalp and hair:

My scalp is quite sensitive and some products tend to make my scalp feel dry and itchy once I have used it.

So I look for products that contain no sulfates, parabens etc, so it will be gentler on my sensitive scalp.

Effectiveness on the hair:

This parameter will discuss how effectively it worked on my hair in general. In terms of its cleansing, its nourishment power, how smooth or dry or frizzy it made my hair etc.

Fragrance:

I prefer using shampoos that are mildly fragrant as I am someone who detests strong smells. So I usually try to find shampoos with mild and not overpowering scents.

Safe for use on colour-treated hair:

My hair has been colour-treated for many years, and some of the shampoos I used over the years faded out my hair colour in no time.

So after such experiences, I look out for shampoos that are most often usable by all hair types or specifically formulated for colour-treated hair.

Pricing:

My ideal price range for just a shampoo would be around $8 to $12, while coupling it with a conditioner; I wouldn’t mind paying even up to $15.

I most often choose products within this price range, unless they are specifically formulated to treat a particular hair problem. Then, I wouldn’t mind paying the extra cost if the product seems worth it.

Hask Argan Oil Shampoo And Conditioner: Overall Review

Firstly, I am going to talk about how amazing this product worked on my hair and I actually saw results! Yes, you read that right. I literally saw a great change in the texture of my hair within a couple of weeks after using this shampoo.

It tamed my frizziness to a large extent and made my hair feel more manageable and better moisturized and soft and this was something my curly hair had never really experienced in the past. I finally had “good hair days” once I started using this product.

My hair is quite damaged because of how often it has been colour-treated. So with regard to this aspect, I must say that it did help reduce my hair damage considerably, but it did wash off a little of my hair colour.

But luckily it wasn’t a lot and that little colour wash-off is something I well expected. So my disappointment was not too much there.

Coming to how effective this shampoo was in terms of cleansing, I must say that it helped reduce the greasiness of my hair to a large extent and it washed off very well, leaving behind absolutely no product residue.

It also felt very gentle on my scalp and hair, as it contained no sulfates or parabens. So this is something I really liked about this product.

The fragrance is of argan oil, which is definitely not mild, but it was bearable. But honestly, I wish it could have been less fragrant.

Lastly, I would like to close out this review with something that took me by surprise – the price! I literally couldn’t believe that I got both the shampoo and conditioner for just $9.98, which I felt was a steal in comparison to other such shampoos.

Pros:

Cons:

·         It is safe to use on colour-treated hair but does wash off a little bit of the colour like most other shampoo would.

·         The fragrance isn’t mild, but it is bearable.

How Do You Use The Hask Argan Oil Shampoo And Conditioner?

I used this shampoo just how I use any other shampoo. I rinsed my hair with plain warm water (as they say that warm water helps open up the cuticles on the hair shaft, making the product penetrate into the hair strand better) and then diluted a little of this shampoo along with water and lathered it onto my hair.

I then gently massaged it into my scalp for a few minutes and then washed it off under running water.

I conditioned my hair thereafter and then washed off the conditioner with cool water (as they say that the hair cuticles will get sealed trapping in the moisture).
