Sunflower Seed Oil
Sunflower seed oil is rich in oleic acid that can help increase hair growth and reduce hair breakage (as it moisturizes the hair) and improves hair length as the hair doesn’t break off.
It can also help reduce scalp conditions like dandruff and scalp itchiness, as it has anti-inflammatory properties.
Avocado Fruit Extract
Avocados are a rich source of biotin (vitamin B7) and can help the hair gain more nourishment and become stronger and healthier.
It can help coat the hair cuticles and seal them, thus making the hair smoother in texture and shinier in appearance.
Cucumber Fruit Extract
Cucumber acts like a hydrating agent to the hair and helps keep the hair moisturized thus reducing hair dryness.
It can nourish and strengthen the hair follicles and promote the growth of healthy hair, thus reducing hair fall.
It can also help repair the hair and increase hair lustre and shine.
White Tea Leaf Extract
White tea leaf extract is a lesser-known ingredient added to products but can enrich the hair very well.
It contains epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), an antioxidant that can help increase hair growth and subsequently reduce hair fall.
It can help protect the hair from sun damage and reduce hair dryness, giving the hair a renewed sheen and improving hair health in general.
Aloe Vera Leaf Extract
Aloe vera is rich in antioxidants and can fight hair damage. It can protect the hair from UV damage.

It can also help increase hair growth considerably.
Grape Seed Extract
Grape seed extract can help add moisture to the hair, thus reducing hair dryness.
It can help increase hair shine and lustre. Using grape seed extract on the hair can nourish the hair follicles and promote hair strength, reducing hair fall and hair breakage.
It is also known to be a natural remedy to reduce baldness and hair loss.
Apart from these ingredients, an additional two ingredients have been added only into the conditioner
Shea butter is a natural emollient and can help keep the hair well moisturized.

It can also increase hair shine and hair smoothness.
Parameters I used to Test this Product
Here are the parameter is used in the testing of this product:
Hair cleansing ability
This aspect tests how powerful the cleansing power of the shampoo is and whether it is able to get rid of dirt, oil and product buildup effectively.
Gentleness on the hair and scalp
This parameter considers the ingredients used and how gentle this shampoo feels while used on the hair.
I look out for shampoos that do not contain harsh chemicals like sulfates and parabens because my scalp is very sensitive.
Effectiveness of the Product
Here, I consider how effectively the product worked on my hair. Whether it reduces the dryness of my hair, how well it moisturized my hair, whether it faded my hair colour drastically (since this shampoo is specifically designed for it), whether or not it left a residue on my hair and scalp, etc.
Use on colour-treated hair
Since my hair is colour-treated and this shampoo is formulated specifically for use on colour-treated hair, I wanted to check whether it would fade my hair colour or not and if it did, to what extent.
I am someone who isn’t big on harsh fragrances. So I look out for mildly scented or unscented shampoos.
I paid $36.54 for both the shampoo and conditioner. Since they were 1 litre bottles each, I felt it was really worth the price and fit perfectly within my budget.
Kirkland Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner: Overall Review
Since this product is specifically made for colour-treated hair and its top benefit is moisturizing, I just had to try it out and I must say I liked this shampoo a lot!
Due to bleaching and dyeing my hair very often, it had become extremely dry and excessively brittle and used to break easily.
Well, ever since I started using this shampoo (it has been two weeks now), I can already feel the difference.
My hair actually feels softer and smoother than before.
It was super gentle on my hair and scalp as it contained no harsh chemicals like sulfates and parabens.
It has helped tame my frizziness to a large extent and my hair feels easier to brush and manage as well.
The conditioner didn’t weigh down my hair and brought back life to my locs.
As for the colour safety, it definitely didn’t drastically fade my hair colour and the little fading is something I expected.
The product description stated that this shampoo stated that it was unscented, but it did have a slight smell, of what, is something I couldn’t tell, but it was very mild and subtle. In fact it actually had a good smell.
In terms of the pricing, when comparing this shampoo and conditioner set to other such products, it is on par with other brands, which I felt was relatively reasonable, considering that it was a 1 litre bottle of both the shampoo and conditioner.

Kirkland Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner: FAQs
Is Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate the same as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate?
This ingredient got me confused too as the product description of this shampoo said there were no sulfates and well, there aren’t any sulfates, because they are different ingredients!
So I did my own research and here’s what I found. Both these ingredients are totally different from each other even though they may seem similar.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (SLSa) is safe for the hair as it is a plant-derived surfactant.
Whereas, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is a toxic chemical surfactant that can have severe damage to the hair
How do I open the pump?
Well, this part is rather tricky and I struggled with it myself, but finally figured it out.
All you need to do is remove the paper sticker/protective seal (refer to image) which is on the pump.
Then, hold the area and twist it for it to pop up. The pump is then usable.
Honestly, Kirkland Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner is a good product for hair loss.
The shampoo comes with keratin protein that works to strengthen your hair faster than most shampoos do.
You can also rely on its conditioner for soft, shiny, and manageable hair. Overall, the products are effective and trustworthy as well.
