Is The Avalon Organics Tea Tree Shampoo Good For Hair?

Avalon Organics Tea Tree Shampoo is appreciated for its use of organic botanicals and essential oils, particularly tea tree oil, which is known for its antiseptic and scalp-soothing properties. It can be beneficial for those with oily scalps, dandruff, or scalp irritation. However, its suitability for hair depends on individual needs and hair types. It’s free from harsh chemicals, making it a good choice for those seeking a more natural hair care option. Always consider your specific hair concerns and preferences when selecting a shampoo.

Avalon Organics Tea Tree Shampoo Review

One of the biggest reasons why I like this Avalon shampoo is because it really does not contain any harsh ingredients.

There are no strong surfactants like sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate, this makes it excellent to use on color-treated hair as well.

There are very few clarifying shampoos that can claim to be completely natural and organic and this tea tree shampoo is one of them.

The formula helps gently cleanse your scalp, purify the skin and remove all flaky buildup but not once is it harsh. It uses the power of antibacterial tea tree oil and gentle, coconut-derived surfactants to clarify your scalp and hair.

I also loved the addition of several essential oils apart from the tea tree oil. There’s orange peel oil, eucalyptus, and peppermint oil. Not only do these oils help control oil production on the scalp and reduce dandruff, they act as perfuming agents adding a lovely, refreshing scent to the shampoo.

Yes! One of my favorite things about the Avalon Organics shampoo is that there are no added perfumes in here. The fragrance is from natural sources so it won’t irritate sensitive skin or cause allergic reactions.

Apart from perfumes, this shampoo doesn’t contain artificial colorants, GMOs, parabens, phthalates, or any kind of harmful preservative.

So it is truly an “organic” product. And they are EWG Verified to prove it too!

The Avalon Organics shampoo is also vegan and cruelty free.

I didn’t really find a lot of drawbacks to using this Avalon Organics Scalp Treatment Shampoo. It was actually a very pleasant experience.

The shampoo contains menthol, so it gives a cool feeling when you apply it on your scalp. I really enjoyed this sensation but I know it’s not for everyone. Also, menthol might not suit every scalp type, so this is one disadvantage about the shampoo.

And as I’ve mentioned before, this “Scalp Treatment Shampoo” is essentially a clarifying shampoo. It worked excellently on my oily, dandruff-prone scalp, but it won’t suit dry scalp types.

It hasn’t got a lot of moisturizing ingredients barring the lightweight aloe vera.

I was also very disappointed when I saw the ingredients list and figured alcohol is a part of it. Alcohol is often added to cosmetics to give it that gel texture that makes it easy to spread and use.

However, I wish Avalon Organics had avoided using it. I don’t think there’s much research connecting alcohol with hair issues, but it is well known to dry your hair and skin.

So again, if you’ve got dry or dehydrated hair this one isn’t for you.

Aloe Vera

If you have an oily scalp ostensive cal that aloe vera is one of the best ingredients for you. I adore how aloe vera can hydrate your scalp and hair without making it greasy or oily.

This ingredient is one of the chief constituents of the Avalon Organics Tea Tree Shampoo.  It helps the shampoo keep your scalp hydrated, reduce inflammation and Promote hair thickness.

Aloe vera is rich in nutrients like vitamin C, vitamin B, vitamin B12 and Vitamin E. It also contains folic acid that nourishes your hair follicles.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a clinically proven antifungal, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent.  It helps reduce redness and itching on the scalp.

It is excellent for use in shampoos which help treat scalp conditions like eczema, psoriasis, etc.

There was a study conducted that proves that using 5% tea tree oil shampoo actually helps reduce dandruff and flaking in the scalp.

In the shampoo tea tree oil also makes for an excellent cleansing agent as it removes the flaky build-up and dandruff crusts that have formed on the scalp, allowing serums, conditioners and other hair products to be better absorbed.

Oat Bran

Oat bran is rich in saponins that act as a natural surfactant that cleanse your hair and scalp. It is also rich in minerals such as magnesium that promotes better hair growth.

Surprisingly, oat bran is also excellent for moisturizing your scalp due to the high concentration of beta-glucan it contains.

FAQs about Avalon Organics Tea Tree Shampoo

Is Avalon shampoo sulfate free?

Yes, the Avalon shampoos are all sulfate-free. They do not contain either sodium laureth sulfate or sodium lauryl sulfate, both of which can dry out hair and strip hair color. However, some shampoos do contain milder surfactants like cocamide MEA or sodium coco-sulfate which are derived from coconut and are not harsh on hair.

Is Avalon organics clarifying lemon shampoo better than the tea tree scalp treatment shampoo?

Avalon Organics Clarifying Lemon Shampoo is a great shampoo that provides a refreshing, invigorating cleanse. This shampoo is specifically designed to energize the scalp and promote healthy hair growth, thanks to the unique blend of lemon, Vitamin C, pro-vitamin B5, and lemongrass. In comparison to Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo, Avalon Organics Clarifying Lemon Shampoo offers a more invigorating and energizing cleanse due to the infusion of lemon and Vitamin C, providing a boost of antioxidants and lightening the natural hair color. Additionally, the refreshing organic lemon scent is a definite plus, making it a great alternative to the more medicinal tea tree scent.

Is Avalon Organics really natural?

Yes it is! Avalon Organics is a vegan, cruelty-free and organic brand that is EWG verified and NSF organic certified according to the NSF/ANSI 305 Standard. All its products are GMO-free and do not contain harsh chemicals like surfactants, perfumes or artificial preservatives.

Can you use tea tree shampoo everyday?

No, I do not advise using the Avalon Organics Tea Tree shampoo or any tea tree shampoo for that matter, everyday. These shampoos do not contain harsh surfactants but they do have a very strong clarifying effect. Using it everyday can leave hair and scalp skin feeling dry. It can also lead to some people developing an allergic reaction in rare cases. So it’s best to limit using this product to 1-3 times a week, depending on hair texture and scalp condition.

Does tea tree shampoo help with thinning hair?

Tea tree oil doesn’t directly impact hair thinning in any way. So no, a tea tree oil cannot directly make your thinning hair grow thicker. However, it can help out in other ways. Tea tree oil can remove dandruff flakes and debris from the scalp which causes bacteria/fungal buildup that causes hair thinning. It can clarify scalp, making way for better nutrient absorption, leading to thicker hair. And if you chose a tea tree shampoo with ingredients that do control thinning hair (like ceramides, biotin or collagen) it can definitely help.

Who owns Avalon Organics shampoo?

The parent company of the shampoo brand Avalon Organics is the Hain Celestial Group, Inc. This organization owns and operates several food brands and botanical-based beauty and skincare products. Avalon Organics is a part of the latter.

Final Thoughts on the Avalon Tea Tree Shampoo

To commit up the Avalon tea tree shampoo is actually organic and does not just pretend to be. It is cruelty free vegan and does not contain any GMO ingredients.

This shampoo also does not contain any sulfates or Harsh surfactants making it excellent for use on color treated hair at home stripped the hair color.

I can also say that this shampoo is safe for use on sensitive skin as it does not contain any perfumes and has its fragrances from natural essential oils.

There aren’t any parables or other harsh preservatives in the shampoo either.

I liked how clarified the shampoo was even without the use of SLS and SLES.  The tea tree oil in the formula does an excellent job of controlling inflammation on the scalp and reducing dandruff flakes and oiliness.

however with that being said I think this shampoo is only for people with oily scalp or dandruff issues.  It can dry out hair and scalp which you have already tried to begin with.

People with curly hair and African-American hair textures can use the shampoo as a clarifying product or scalp treatment but I do not recommend it for everyday use.
