1. Matrix High Amplify Hairspray

I used the Matrix High Amplify Hairspray for a very short time unfortunately, because no sooner did I start using it, it got discontinued. So I never got to my second bottle and had to switch to an alternative.

Nevertheless, this hairspray was a great hairspray for styling the hair and I really loved the way it would make my hair look more voluminous and it would really give life to my limp hair.

I would often use this product as a finishing spray to hold my hairstyle in place and its effects were really powerful. I could even go an entire day with my hairstyle in place! Overall, great product and as an alternative I now use the Matrix Fixer Hairspray which is equally good.

2. Matrix Moisture Me Rich Shampoo for Hydrating Dry Hair

I have had dry hair issues for the longest time and I honestly was getting a little too fed up of trying out multiple brands of shampoos to fix my dry hair problems.

Well, finding the Matrix Moisture Me Rich Shampoo for Hydrating Dry Hair was a lifesaver! I used this shampoo (and conditioner) for a long time and it really renewed my hair and bright back life into my locs.

It moisturized my hair considerably and hydrated it like never before. Yes and I saw the results within just a couple of weeks of using this shampoo.

After this product got discontinued I have switched to the Matrix Food For Soft Hydrating Shampoo and Matrix Food For Soft Detangling Hydrating Conditioner.

3. Matrix Hello Blondie Shampoo

After I dyed my hair blonde, I have had never ending problems of dealing with brassiness. So, the Matrix Hello Blondie Shampoo always came to my rescue and helped get rid of my brassiness within just a couple of washes. So yes, I was quite disappointed when I got to know that it was discontinued.

But lucky for me, the alternative product I use now – the Matrix Brass Off Shampoo and Conditioner is just as good and works well for me.

4. Matrix Heat Buffer Thermal Styling Spray

I am someone who uses heat styling tools to straighten, curl and dry my hair on a very regular basis and therefore a heat protectant spray is a definite must in my vanity kit!

So the one I was using for the longest time was the Matrix Heat Buffer Thermal Styling Spray. It really kept my hair well-protected and kept my locs away from extensive heat damage.

After its discontinuation, I now use the Matrix Mega Sleek Iron Smoother for my hair. But I do have to admit that I still do prefer the Matrix Heat Buffer Thermal Styling Spray!

5. Matrix Super Fixer Strong Hold Gel

I love putting my hair into twists and I curl my hair quite often as well. So I always keep a holding gel in my vanity kit and the Matrix Super Fixer Strong Hold Gel was a super good product.

It had a very strong hold and my hair twists and curls would remain for hours without unraveling. Also, it provided my hair with a strong hold without hardening my hair strands.

Well, the alternative product I use now, the Matrix Controller Gel is quite good too.

Alternative product: Matrix Controller Gel

6. Matrix Oil Wonders Shaping Oil Cream

The Matrix Oil Wonders Shaping Oil Cream was an excellent shaping oil cream and it worked wonders on my hair. It made my hair feel more manageable and gave my hair a good finishing look. This oil cream helped nourish and moisturize my hair, thus reducing dryness and frizz.

I couldn’t find a very suitable alternative to this oil cream (as it had a blend of both oil and cream), but Matrix does recommend the Matrix A Curl Can Dream Cream as an alternative, but I am yet to try it out.

7. Matrix Smooth Setter Cream

I have used the Matrix Smooth Setter Cream for as long as I can remember and this product worked amazing on my hair! I have dry hair and I have a lot of frizz and flyaways. So this cream helped keep my hair in place and made it way more manageable upon its usage.

So once it was discontinued, I switched to the Matrix Mega Sleek Blow Down and I now continue to use this product to set my hair.

Alternative products: Matrix Mega Sleek Blow Down, Matrix Over Achiever 3-in-1.

8. Matrix Air Dry Twisted Boho Curl Defining Cream

I had discovered this product hardly some months before it got discontinued, sadly and I was quite disappointed. In the past I had tried several brands of curl defining creams and none had worked as well as this one.

This product made my curls feel so full of life and brought back definition to my locs. Once this product was discontinued, I started using the Matrix A Curl Can Dream Cream, which was quite as good.

Alternative product: Matrix A Curl Can Dream Cream

9. Matrix Style Link Volume Booster

My hair would always stand so limp and lacked volume and that’s when someone suggested that I use a volume booster product. That’s when I started using the Matrix Style Link Volume Booster and it worked wonders on my hair. It really boosted my hair volume like never before and made my hair stand full.

Even though Matrix does recommend alternative products, I haven’t tried out any one yet.

Alternative products: Matrix A Curl Can Dream Shampoo, Matrix A Curl Can Dream Shampoo Lightweight Oil.

10. Matrix Style Link Play Back Dry Shampoo

Since I have a lot of product buildup on my scalp, I experience scalp greasiness and my hair becomes oily and greasy very easily. This is why I use a dry shampoo to go between washes, so I do not have to wash my hair more than twice a week.

The Matrix Style Link Play Back Dry Shampoo was a great product and it made my hair and scalp feel light and less greasy. Upon its discontinuation, I now use the Matrix recommended Matrix Refresher Dry Shampoo which is also very good.

Alternative product: Matrix Refresher Dry Shampoo.

Why Were These Matrix Products Discontinued

While Matrix doesn’t state any particular reasons as to why their products have been discontinued, it could be due to various reasons like low sales, changing industry trends, product development, product formulation developments, newer alternatives etc.

Many brands, just like Matrix, choose to discontinue products and give their customers newer and better alternatives in order to ensure customer satisfaction and high standards of quality and performance.

Takeaway

The reason why you need to know which products of Matrix have been discontinued, especially if you’re a user of this brand of hair care products is because it will give you a chance to find out new product alternatives and help you get back to your old hair car routine, but with a different yet similar product.

If a product has been recently discontinued, well, there could still be certain e-commerce websites and local stores that do sell them, until their stocks run out.

So, if you’re a user of Matrix hair products and the product you’ve been using has been discontinued, then you might want to make the switch to a newer and better alternative recommended by Matrix themselves.
