How I reviewed these products

I have rated these five top best blonde hair colors on a rating of 1 – 5 and the rating is based on certain parameters.

My parameters:

Dyeing effect:

This parameter will test how effective the dyeing power of the product is on the hair.

 Ingredients:

This parameter looks into the ingredients and whether the product contains harsh ingredients like ammonia, peroxide etc., that can damage the hair.

Fade-resistance:

The last parameter will rate the fade-resistance power of the hair dye (how long it remained bright and fresh/vibrant on my hair before it began to fade off).

1. L’Oreal Paris Excellence Hair Color

So I typically have black hair, so obviously I couldn’t use this color directly on my hair and had to bleach it before I got down to dyeing my hair.

I bleached my hair a few levels until it reached a light blonde shade, so that the champagne blonde color would stand out perfectly.

Well, I was pretty impressed how beautifully this color suited me! Indeed it was a great shade and the results were exactly how the product box stated it to be.

This product comes with a protective color mix, an after-color shampoo and also a conditioner. So my hair didn’t feel dry or damaged after I dyed it.

The color remained bright and vibrant for around 2 months, as promised and then gradually began to fade (I had to do root touch ups when my black hair began to grow out).

The product does contain ammonia and peroxide and this is something I didn’t like, but luckily it didn’t have any side effects on my hair.

I paid $11.66 for this hair dye and I found it pretty reasonable.

Pros:

  • The color is bright and radiant.
  •  It has a good fade-resistance power up to two months.
  •  Comes with an after-dye shampoo and conditioner.
  • The product is reasonably priced.

Cons:

  • The dye contains ammonia and peroxide.

Ratings:

Dyeing effect: 4.4/5

Ingredients: 3.8/5

Fade-resistance: 4.6/5

2. L’Oreal Paris Superior Preference Hair Dye

I used this hair dye after my hair was dyed champagne blonde (because you needed a lighter hair shade for the ash blonde shade to show well).

Well, the final result I got was super beautiful! The color lasted on my hair for around four months before it faded gradually, which pretty much lived up to the “fade-defying” promise of this product.

I did have to touch up my roots when my original black hair started to show. But, overall, I really liked this product. Also, it was super reasonable and worth it at $9.97.

This product does contain ammonium hydroxide, but it didn’t damage my hair thankfully.

Pros:

  •  It is a very radiant shade of ash blonde.
  • It is fade-defying and remains vibrant for around four months.
  • Begins to fade very gradually.
  • Very reasonably priced and value for the money paid.

Cons:

  • The product does contain ammonium hydroxide.

 3. Schwarzkopf Got2b Bleach It Permanent Hair Color

This was my very first try at this brand and I was quite impressed with the results that I got.

It was also my very first try at the platinum blonde shade as well and I have to say that I was quite apprehensive about how it would look on my Asian self. Well, it looked amazing!

So this hair dye is supposed to have a bleaching effect of up to 8 levels. Well, I used it on my ash blonde hair and got a pearl-shade platinum hair color as a result of it and I was very satisfied.

Also, this product was really easy to use and what I really liked is that it also comes with an anti-brass purple mask as well. It also keeps the hair color vibrant for around two months.

But, this product contains many harsh ingredients like ammonium hydroxide, ammonium sulfate, hydrogen peroxide and sodium laureth sulfate.

So, even if we do not see the hair damage, I feel like it is bound to damage the hair to some extent. But it does have a lot of hair hydrating and nourishing ingredients like niacinamide, panthenol, limonene, apricot kernel oil etc. as well.

Overall, a reasonably priced product at $9.18.

Pros:

  • Acts as a bleach cum hair dye to a platinum shade of hair.
  • The product is easy to use.
  • Fade-resistant up to two months.
  • Comes with an anti-brass purple hair mask.
  • Contains hair hydrating and nourishing ingredients.
  • Reasonably priced product.

Cons:

  • Contains many harsh ingredients like ammonium hydroxide, ammonium sulfate, hydrogen peroxide and sodium laureth sulfate.

Ratings:

Dyeing effect: 4.2/5

Ingredients: 3.6/5

Fade-resistance: 4.2/5

4. Schwarzkopf Keratin Color

I personally am a big fan of the color honey blonde and I simply loved how beautiful it made my black hair look! Yes, I could use it directly on my black hair without having to bleach it! Talk about awesome, right?

It dyed my black hair a dark honey blonde color, which I felt was a good shade considering the fact that I used it on my originally dark hair.

The shade was very pretty and vibrant and remained on my hair four around 8 weeks before it began to gradually fade.

This product does contain hydrogen peroxide and sodium laureth sulfate, but I didn’t see any much damage on my hair thankfully.

I paid $15.96 for this product and I felt like it was a little more pricey as compared to other such hair dyes.

Pros:

  • This product can be used even on darker hair shades directly.
  • The color is vibrant and radiant.
  •  It lasts quite long before gradually fading.

Cons:

  • Contains hydrogen peroxide and sodium laureth sulfate.
  • More pricey as compared to other such hair dyes.

Ratings:

Dyeing effect: 4.4/5

Ingredients: 3.8/5

Fade-resistance: 4.4/5

5. eSalon Permanent Hair Color

When I dyed my hair with this color, I dyed it after my previously dyed brown hair color began to fade. So, the result I got was more like a ginger-copper color, which I found was fairly pretty and suited my Asian hair as well!

This product claimed that the color would be vibrant for around 30 washes before it would begin to gradually fade.  Well, I feel like the color lasted around 2 months on my hair (approximately 24 washes) before it started fading. Almost like most other hair dyes.

Also, I really liked that this product contained many natural ingredients like aloe vera, silk amino acids, keratin and many more that could boost hair health.

In addition to this, this dye contained absolutely no ammonia, phthalates, PPD, parabens, SLS etc., which was a big plus point in my opinion!

I paid $32.50 for this product which I found was extremely pricey and I guess the reason I paid this price was because the product comes with gloves, shampoo, conditioner, stain guard and stain remover as well. So, it looks like I’ve paid the extra price for the additional products in the box.

Overall, great product, but could have been cheaper.

Pros:

  • Gives the hair a vibrant shade.
  • The product contains many natural ingredients.
  •  It contains absolutely no ammonia, phthalates, PPD, parabens, SLS etc.
  • The dye lasts on the hair for around 24 washes.

Cons:

  • Slightly pricey as compared to other dyes.

Ratings:

Dyeing effect: 4.4/5

Ingredients: 4.6/5

Fade-resistance: 4.4/5

Summary

The color blonde is a very versatile shade and the fact that it comes in so many different shade variations is what increases its versatility.

In my opinion, it is a color that can literally suit anyone from any ethnicity because every shade has something to offer, be it honey blonde, champagne blonde, platinum blonde or strawberry blonde.

These five shades of blonde were the ones that I liked the best and I hope my reviews can help you make your choice!
