The shampoo contains beautiful green specs/granules in the formula which are actually made of Camellia sinensis (green tea) leaf water and Nelumbo Nucifera (Indian lotus) flower extract for a superior scalp cleanse. To break down b a few of the key ingredients-

Ryo Deep Cleansing Shampoo

Glycyrrhiza Glabra (licorice) root extract: If you are a sweet lover like me then you would remember this sourish sweet licorice treat from your childhood, sorry to disappoint you but it’s actually a legume found in Russia, Middle East, and the Mediterranean Sea.

It is known to have magical properties as one of the safest skin-lightening agents with the least side effects.

Camellia Japonica Seed oil: If you have always wondered the secret behind a Japanese woman’s long and lustrous hair, well now you know the ingredient behind it.

Packed with vitamins A, D, C, and E,  is a rich source of Oleic Acid (Omega 9) this oil has excellent hair conditioning properties. It is known to nourish, strengthen, restore dry and damaged hair and is suitable for all hair types.

Fermented Mint: One of the most common plant-based ingredients you will find in this shampoo is fermented mint, which is a common herb found in your kitchen but has a whole range of beneficial properties, from being an anti-inflammatory agent to an antioxidant.

It is especially useful if you have an oily scalp like mine as it cleanses and improves blood circulation in the scalp and allows for better hair growth.

Green tea: Another plant-based ingredient used here and my personal favorite because it’s more than just my comfort drink on a cold rainy day and an excellent magical agent to apply on my hair.

It contains vitamin B which is responsible in preventing split ends, controlling hair breakage and restoring the natural shine of dull hair. It also contains vitamin E which makes hair smooth and shiny.

Is the Ryo Deep Cleansing Shampoo Good For Hair

Packaging- Everything from the greenish color to the bottle design is very elegant and pleasing to the eye. Plus, the pump dispenser is an extra bonus and super convenient to apply the product.

Ryo Cleansing Shampoo

The bottle size is quite impressive around 550 ml and each application for me takes not more than a quarter size of the product. I mainly apply the shampoo to my scalp and use another nourishing conditioner on the hair shafts.

Effectiveness on scalp- According to me, this product was the best shampoo to use during summer because it leaves a very cooling effect on the scalp.

There were no harsh results on my oily and dry scalp and I no longer experience any dryness, itchiness or flakiness. I cannot evaluate this product based on dandruff because thankfully I do not suffer from that.

Cleansing ability- After washing, my scalp and roots felt very clean and my hair was bouncier than before and not as flat as it used to be.

Due to genetics, I am blessed with straight hair and my scalp did feel very light after using this cleansing shampoo. I did notice how it works well on my roots and love how it has made my hair softer and shiner.

Fragrance- I personally love the scent as it smells really fresh, minty  and refreshing, especially after hair wash. The smell is so amazing that it lingers on.

I remember going for an interview the day after I washed my hair and thought their office was using a sweet-smelling air freshener, but nope it was only my hair. So, if you are highly sensitive to smells, then this is not for you.

Price- No bad comment for me with this regard, I purchased my own bottle for $16.99 dollars on Amazon and I feel it is worth repurchasing if you are on the lookout for a great scalp and cleansing shampoo.

How The Ryo Deep Cleansing Shampoo Felt on My Hair

My hair and scalp tend to get oily so fast; like there was a time when I washed my hair in the morning and by evening I already feel that oiliness on my scalp which was such a pain.

I had even visited my hair salon for a hair spa treatment because I did have some scalp issues so finding the right shampoo for me was quite a hassle.

I think some of the most important questions to ask yourself when you purchase any deep cleaning hair care products is- whether it is gentle enough? Or will It make my hair drier?

And to this, I personally think the Ryo Deep cleansing Shampoo achieves that sense of balance between gentleness on the scalp and hair smoothness, which was definitely a pleasant surprise.

I had been using this deep cleansing shampoo consistently for over a year before I decided to give my honest review.

I must say that I am impressed about how gentler and more forgiving the shampoo is on my hair than other shampoos I used in the past that have not agreed with my scalp issues.

It had calmed and soothed all irritation and itchiness on my scalp. If your hair is on the drier side, I would recommend not shampooing more than once simply because it can cause more dryness on the ends or hair strands.

I would recommend the Ryo Deep Cleansing Shampoo if you are prone to oily scalp problems or product build up. Even if I don’t  wash my hair for a week, the shampoo does wonders in removing all that excess dirt, oily mess and sweat.

Overall, this is a great shampoo to use, however, if you have colored hair, go easy on the shampooing because it can strip hair color in the long run. But if you are just like me with just an oily scalp then be my guest.

How To Use It the Ryo Shampoo

The bottle I usually purchase is around 550ml, don’t miss the minty scent blended with herbal motifs. I absolutely love it.

Step 1: Wash hair and scalp with lukewarm or cold water.

Step 2: Apply an appropriate amount of the product and massage gently into the wet scalp and hair.

Step 3: Wash it off and enjoy the pleasant coolness on the scalp.

PS: Even a tiny bit of the shampoo produces a rich lather so even a coin-sized amount would do depending on hair length. Do not store in extremely hot or cold locations and in direct sunlight. Store in a dry area.

Is the Ryo Deep Cleansing Shampoo good for colored hair?

The Ryo Deep Cleansing Shampoo is NOT suitable for colored hair, it contains sulfates including sodium laureth sulfate that is strong surfactant. It removes hair dye particles along with oil, dirt and grime from hair.
You can check the label or the brand’s official website for updated information and specific details about its ingredients and usage recommendations. Look for shampoos labeled as “color-safe,” “color-protecting,” or “sulfate-free” to ensure they are designed to maintain and protect colored hair from fading or damage.
Additionally, if you’re unsure about using a new shampoo on your colored hair, it’s always a good idea to consult with a professional hairstylist or colorist. They can provide personalized advice based on your hair type, color, and any specific concerns you may have.

Summary

It’s a total win in my book and I will continue to use this shampoo until I run out.

Now that you read my detailed review of the Ryo Deep cleansing shampoo, the choice is yours whether to buy it or not.

No matter what, always buy a shampoo keeping in mind your hair type and texture. Do not use this or any shampoo for that matter on a  daily basis because it weakens the follicles.

Lastly, if you decide to buy this shampoo, may I suggest buying the conditioner too for better results.

Will I repurchase this? Yes, I already do but I wouldn’t mind trying another flavor next time in the same brand.
